Bilingual indie pop sensation The Marías have been hard at work evolving their signature sound over recent years. Known for elements of jazz percussion, guitar riffs, smoke-velvet vocals, and horn solos, it’s not surprising that when the band landed in Miami, the Magic City welcomed them to a sold-out show at the iconic Fillmore Miami Beach as part of The Submarine Tour.
As the lights began to dim, the crowd burst with excitement. Silhouettes of lead vocalist María Zardoya, drummer/producer Josh Conway, guitarist Jesse Perlman, and keyboardist Edward James, immersed guests in a night to remember while they dominated centerstage. With coolness oozing from each musician, they provided a lush soundscape for Maria’s alluring vocals.
After closing an epic rendition of their song Blur, Maria asked “bueno, donde está mi gente latina?!” As guests screamed, she began naming Latin American countries asking where they were located in the crowd. Miami’s diaspora did not disappoint, proudly making noise and waving their flags up high.
Following the concert the band rushed over to ZeyZey for a packed after party and energy filled DJ set curated by The Marías drummer/producer Josh Conway.
