There’s Something About Girl Ultra’s New Single Blu

Whether it’s her ethereal voice or funky earth-moving sounds to match, there’s something about spellbinding Mexican Indie artist Girl Ultra that we just can’t shake. Her newest single Blu is a seductive invitation into her universe of emotion-binding Mexican melancolía with raw city girl energy. Filmed on the streets of NYC, Blu’s video was directed by Ellie Rha and gifts us a bird’s eye view into Girl Ultra’s alluring world of self-discovery and unapologetic authenticity.

Blu is the first single from her new EP “Blush” which is set to release on July 12 via Big Dada / Ninja Tune. This seductive EP pays homage to the eclectic sounds of the 2000’s, seamlessly integrating the elements of club, rock, garage music and dry, crisp vocals that our hearts have been yearning for. Produced in intimate collaboration with her close friends Sam Katz and Kiddie, each song is an ode to Girl Ultra’s CDMX roots. In fact, she recently dominated 80,000 fans in Mexico City’s Zocalo as an opening act for Julieta Venegas.

The sky is the limit for Mexico’s talented queen of melancholy. Catch her leaving her whole heart on the pavement as she supports Chromeo and The Midnight on tour across the US this fall.
