Held at its home in the iconic ACE Props & Studios in Miami, this intimate and imaginative hub transported artists into an oasis for creatives to connect, reconnect, and express themselves through music and art. Cimafunk & Tribu brought the house down with a body-moving performance fueled by electrifying funk. Cimafunk, born Erik Alejandro Iglesias Rodríguez, is a Cuban musician and trailblazing artist celebrated for blending Afro-Cuban rhythms with funk, soul, and hip-hop. Hailing from Pinar del Río, Cuba, he rose to international prominence with his infectious sound and dynamic performances. Known for his ability to modernize Cuban music while honoring its deep cultural roots, Cimafunk’s work is a vibrant celebration of Afro-Cuban identity, making him one of the most exciting voices in contemporary Latin music. A longtime fixture on our radar at Tigre Sounds, he has collaborated with several music icons and on this particular night he gifted us an electric performance with special guest appearances by legends including Chucho Valdés, Arturo Sandoval, Emily Estefan, Grupo Niche, Leoni Torres, Bita, Nella, and more.
A highlight of the week was our conversation with Cimafunk on his soulful collaboration with Catalina Garcia of Monsieur Perine, for which they recently earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Song of the Year with their hit Catalina, produced by Puerto Rican visionary Fuxbeat. The duo shared their creative journey behind the song, and the magic behind their musical chemistry, which has captivated audiences worldwide, going viral with its vibrant rhythms and catchy lyrics.
