Today, Poppy Ajudha officially announces the start of summer with an infectiously upbeat remix of her 2021 ‘Weakness’. The remix from Twin Palms (the exciting new production project from Captain Planet and Raphael Futura) builds on the latin flavour of the original and flips it into a dancefloor ready, carnival flavoured fiesta.
The perfect soundtrack to the heady feeling of summertime liberation which feels even sweeter after such a tough year for everyone. Following on from her politically-aware and liberating tracks: ‘Strong Womxn’, and ‘Black Joy. Black Peace. Black Justice’ Poppy maintains her status as a trailblazer in the industry, and continues to progress the narrative of unapologetic femininity and female empowerment.
In classic Ajudha style the track boasts a strong bassline, catchy melody and uncompromisable lyrics all combined together with her silky vocals and covers the topic of love and romance as seen in previous tracks such as ‘Low Ride’ Ft. Mahalia.
Constantly pushing the boundaries of her artistry, the quirky, eclectic and flamenco-esque sound and visuals were completely self-directed by Ajudha, further showing she’s an artist that takes the reign on her art. With animation by Jack Brown (Travis Scott, Tom Misch, Freddie Gibbs, Rejji Snow), ‘Weakness’ is as much of a pleasure to the eyes as it is to our ears; and with 2021 off to a strong start, the stratosphere is the limit for Poppy, who continues to dominates the scene one song at a time.
